We are not getting an exact clone of SM:UF. there are different flips in it and its not going to be close to it. Also the ride place isnt comfirmed yet. The people said place where it orinigally was going to be placed was not good becuase they can have any more treese taken down. so they moved it to the parkinglot. its not confirmed there yet eather. there is another meeting but i dont know when. i will tell you when i find out

Also the reason that the sombrero was taken away so they can put the G-force (Scrambled Eggs) in its place. So the place where G-force was they can put the new pay attraction. Does n e one know if they are going to put back the time warp ride next year when they take down the stage?

New Coaster Information Released: At a Jackson Township Planning Board meeting on September 10, Great Adventure officials proposed the new coaster to the board to receive a permit. At this meeting, a few facts were learned about the new attraction, which is confirmed as a coaster.
Height: 122 feet Layout: Clone of Superman: Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Over Georgia, but taller and faster, but no new loading advancements. Location: At least some of this coaster will be in the season pass parking lot. The entrance will be in Boarwalk, next to Great American Scream Machine and will connect Boardwalk to Frontier Adventures.
This is a clone see. And actually we were suppose to get a totally different coaster that they could not obtain approval over, so Great America and Great Adventure switched coasters. Now we are getting Great America's and Great America will most likely get ours.

JJ2K,
GAm and GAdv never "switched" rides as you said. The new ride has had no approval problems to date. No idea how you came up with that. While I am not saying what GAm is getting in 2003 (I keep my mouth shut when I'm asked to - Although it is all over the net what they are indeed getting), it will be similar.
GAdv and GAm never have switched plans for any 2003 ride. Our new coaster has never changed plans throughout much of the season (minus location).
-Rob
...and if I was told correctly, GAdv fans will be happy to know that GAdv is getting another 'thing' (not coaster or ride) next season (shuts mouth).

Well, I actually got it from gadv.com I think under 2003 preview, yeah right here: Rumor has it that this flyer was actually supposed to go to Six Flags Great America, but was switched at the last moment, so whatever that park will get, could be what we would have gotten. The official announcement is set to come on October 23, which is much earlier than usual. More coverage to come.

Key phrase there, JJ, is "Rumor has it". Name, Location, and origins of the coaster are all just speculation right now, all we know is that it will be 122 feet and somewhere near boardwalk. Does n e one know if they are going to put back the time warp ride next year when they take down the stage? To my knowledge, they won't be taking down the stage. Summer of Festivals was a success and I see no reason why they wouldn't continue it next year. My guess is that if Time Warp does go back up, it won't be in it's old location.

Are you sure the summer of festivals was a sucess? Everytime I was at gadv during different festivals , there was nobody in them. They looked like a bust to me. I was at gadv 14 times so far this year , so I got a pretty good idea about how the festivals did.

I don't expect the festivals to return next season. The event was a media push to replace the lack of new, major, attractions. The events only got attention from the public when a major band was set to play. I never saw the area busy.
I also don't expect Time Warp to return anytime in the future. The ride was a pain to keep operating, and had power problems. Not to mention it is the worst breed of flat rides out there. I have no idea if the stage will stay, but I would assume it will.

The events only got attention from the public when a major band was set to play. I never saw the area busy. I 100% agree. I hope they don't bring it back, because usually the ones selling the food tickets were spare rides employees (so we would often hide in computer rooms and maintainance sheds to avoid capture). Centrifuge: yes, it was supposed to go in the El Sombrero hole (that's where they brought the pieces, originally), but I think now the plans are to put it where Pirate's Flight was. Time Warp: also known as Double Inverter; they haven't gotten rid of it, it's in storage, but I know nothing more than that. El Sombrero: it has gone to that roller coaster park in the sky. The last remaining piece, the operator panel was stolen by a ride operator who shall remain nameless. ~Dan

Howdy,
Where did you get an announcement date of late October? I doubt that is anything more than a rumor. Heck, the park is still open to the public at that time.
I am not aware of any media events which are set right now. I know the media has not been sent any form of an invite or any set dates for any new ride. I know that none of that information was released at the public meeting.
Don't count on an announcement that early. All major media events that GAdv has done are during the first few days of February. Although, things do change. So I could be wrong about the 2003 season event.
I would assume they will once again be done in NYC and Philly as they did with Nitro.

Good point, Rob. It seems like such a waste to almost destroy some of the Lakefront for a one season "event". The grass was covered in stones and picnic tables and now it all lays empty. Personally, I never attended one festival, but it didn't seem like that bad an idea. However, I got quite sick of seeing the nice lakefront area covered in ugly make-shift tents and trailors. Put it this way, with the new coaster next year, will anyone care that the festivals don't return?

NYRfan85 has reached a milestone: POST #100 !!!Wooooooooo!!! ;D ;D
Okay, now that that's outta my system, back on topic. I really nope gadv brings back Time Warp and Centrifuge. Time Warp was great because nobody knew it was back there, and there were never any lines. That's an intense, fun ride. Centrifuge is the fastest scrambler I've ever been on. It's so fun. I loved havin that by GASM, cuz i always went on it b4 or after GASM. I hope these 2 rides come back for 2003. Personally, I could care less about the festivals. They didn't seem like their weekly celebrations (like it didnt really seem like latin fest, etc etc). Id rather have Time Warp or something back there again.

It was unfortunate for us in 230 that Centrifuge did not reopen this year. Not because it was originally supposed to be in our section, but because of Rodeo Stampede... Centrifuge used to be the perfect exit pass for people who didn't make the height, or who just didn't fit in Rodeo's seats, or who didn't have a partner... But, this year, the complaints were more plentiful...
