It's quite improable for next season, but I think a new wooden coaster addition to the park is very likely in the near future. I know I'm very much looking forward to the day of its opening, and I'd like to know when you guys think that day will be, and why you think that. Also, with CCI down the drain, and Six Flags wary of prototypes (which in this case would be from the Gravity Group or the new wooden division in S&S) after all the downtime of Flying Dutchmen, Deja Vus, and X, who do you think will design it? Lastly, where in the park do you think it will be, what type of theme (or in the case of SF, name, paint job and sponsor) do you think it will have, and what type (terrian, twister, out and back, etc.) of woodie do you see it as?

I don't think we will be getting wood next year, I tend to believe the flyer rumor for next season. However, I think we will get wood in 2004 and if we don't then, then definitly in 2005. I think it will go behing the northern star arena, or if they decide to use the land on the other side of the lake then over there. I don't think Gadv wil get it from S&S or Gravity Group usually Gadv likes to make sure the company they get it from is secure and being that these two are both new I don't think SF will jump to get one. I think it will be a GCI. As for themeing I have no idea what so ever.

Well you took the words right out of my mouth! I'd say GCI's a good bet for the designer, because there are already two Roars at SF parks designed by them, and I've heard only great things about them both. Not to mention that there's no other wood designer out there right now that is good and reliable. In my eyes however, Gravity Group is still, though remote, a possibility, because it was formed by a group of engineers from CCI, and SF, to my knowledge, likes CCI (Villian, Boss), so they may give GG a shot. Also, didn't Intamin make a wood division recently?
On another note, I wonder if it will be on the West side of the park, because they usually like to alternate the placing of new coasters, so if it comes in 2004, it's a strong posibility. I wonder if (hope) they incorporate it well if they do put it there, and I think it would be very interesting to see a woodie in Movietown (though it is plausible for it to be in Old Country or Lakefront too).

Though I don't see how it would fit in anywhere, a woody on the west side of the park would be nice. That way you have Rolling Thunder on one side, and then the new wood on the complete opposite side. You don't want the two woodies right near each other.

well they could tear down the northern star arena cuz it is old and the paint is fading like the dolphin show, and they could make it go through the trees around there, mabe interwine with madusa and stuff.
but then it might be too loud for saw mill.
p.s. why didnt they repaint teh dolphin show stadium seats when they kney they were going to make it in to a new show, from the diving show

Well, I guess they could tear out the northern star arena, and then they have a lot of land for the wooden coaster. Then, they could use the movietown arena for the concerts and special events. I would like the wood coaster to be around the Movietown area myself, but I can't see anyway to fit it. Even if they took out Chiller or batman, both of thos lots aren't big enough for a wooden coaster. The only way I could see a wood coaster on that side of the park would be if they use the land on the opposite side of the lake. Or maybe if they cuild the station on the service roads behind Buccanear, BBLTT, JR, and wok&roll. Then they could have it go over the water and do the main part of the ride on the other side of the lake. But, this way the only paths they need to make is for the line to the coaster and not a bunch of pathways to get to the otherside of the lake. I don't know just tryin to think of the possible ways of a wood coaster to fit on that side of the park.

Oh yea, when in doubt, let's just tear down a park landmark. The N. Star Arena has been around for a long, long time and is part of the park's history. It also is a very good concert arena. It's not going anywhere, nor should it.

True, that is the only arena in the park thats been there since opening. If they do have it on that side they will probably just build it behind the Northern star arena and then use the land there, there is a lot cause the land across the lake meets with the mainland there. However, I would hope they find a way to build the coaster somewhere on the west side of the park. But, I can only see two ways that, that could happen, which I mentioned in my last post.

If a woodie were to come to Gadv, then I would like to see it in the Old Country section of the park. They could tear out the Garden of Eatin' and move it across the lake or something, out of the way, and use the trees and stuff in that area to build a woodie, particularly a twister. Old Country is a very small section of the park and i think it could use a ride or two over there.

i think the woodie will come in 2004 with another attraction. Its rumored to be a 200 ft intamin woodie with the new track style like colossus. They would probably install another attraction with it b/c the people probably wont think a wooden coaster is that great. I think it will be placed by the NorthStar Arena, on the other side of Medusa.

well i've heard from a very reliable source (that being chris godsey) that the intamin plug and play is the best bet for 2003. he said the colossos only took 3 months to put up unlike other woodies. but thats from him (who is a coaster designer) but i still would like a B&M flyer.

As i see it a wooden "plug and play" coaster from intamin would eb a great addition to the park, but tell that to the GP. now if they add in a flyer it will get people in, a "big bad new steel coaster" compared to an "old fashioned woodie" as they put it. Now if the get a flyer it would be great but i see another woodie using Intamins new concept coming in, but there ouwld have to be something else, a 2 ride deal. the coasetr and maybe a drop tower like Acro at SFoG. then people would come to the park for it.

a very reliable source my butt. i'm kinda tired of people saying that. whatever we get we get. but i wouldnt tear down the northern star arena. even though it is getting old i would just renovate it to make it look better. i do think it's a nice place.

screamscape also seems to think we're going to get a woodie next year for some strange reason . However, I don't think we will get an intamin woodie. I tend to believe that in 2004 we will get a GCI wooden twister coaster. Look Gadv has really never gotten a same typoe of a coaster that they've had in the past. If we just get a wooden then we already have a wooden, however a GCI wooden twisster coaster is considered a different type of coaster then just a wooden.
