Wow! What a trip report! And I read the whole thing! A few comments...
1.) It's good to hear the new Rolling Thunder operators are doing their jobs and keeping the line at bay! I have had a few people ejected for line cutting. Once again, it's not that they don't care, it's that the operator is usually watching the trains. If they noticed with two trains on the track, I'm impressed! (It was probably Rachel; she caught them all the time.)
2.) I love it! Every trip report recently... left side of Rolling Thunder... left side of Rolling Thunder. I hope when I visit over Columbus Day weekend the left side is still open!!!
3.) On to my other rides. Taz Twister... yeah, it sucks. But it's 28 years old, and a pain to operate. I've never ridden (I'm too tall), but I don't I'd want to...
4.) Ah, Viper. Good old Viper... Another ride you have to learn how to ride. I forget the exact logistics, but I think the key is the BACK of the B train, and the FRONT of the C train. NEVER (and this goes for Rolling Thunder too) sit in the last occupied row if only half the train is filled, unless you want a very unconfortable ride.
5.) Finally, the delays on Viper. You'd think, with its revolutionary unload/load design, Viper would be efficient. Yeah, right! There is so much hassle caused by needing three employees... the exit is very far away from the operator's panel... and the station is huge... So much can happen. Then, add in the fact that the computer sucks (because someone spilled water on the panel years ago, shorting out the LCD screen), and you've got horrible throughput... Oh well, it's still our wonderful Viper.
I can't wait to post my very own trip report when I visit as a GUEST (and not employed by the park) for the first time in eight and a half years. Wow. ~Dan

I think I made that sound wrong... I only worked in the park for three years, two for Super Star Studios, and the latest in rides. However, prior to my employment, my last visit to Six Flags was in June 1994. So my next visit will be my first solely as a guest since then. Sorry for the confusion... ~Dan

it would be the fault off the person who ripped the protetive covering off the screen whcih then allowed the water to get into the LCD display...now who did that....I think I may have done that as well. but it was out of complete boredom after a 16hour day.
Forgive me>>>

Even though it doesn't matter, water is always spilled on the screen - it's in such a horrible place.
The only thing its used for is guiding the operator through start-up procedures (we have to know it by memory anyway) and for errors. It's just ugly sitting there.
Speaking of the Viper panel, I would just like to say that Viper has a unique method of operation that I'm not sure anyone is aware of. I believe it is the only major coaster in the park in which the operator (used to) leave the panel to help load the train! And then, the train would be dispatched with two attendants, and no operator. (That's why there's a "remote panel" with all the major ride functions on the side of the op panel.) Must have been crazy to work that one. Oh yeah, Viper has the prettiest E-Stop buttons in the park... rumored to be worth $80-$100 apiece...

Emergency Stop. Every ride has one, (except for Bugs Bunny Land). At every ride, the emergency stops, ride stops, and lift stops function differently. But the buttons at Viper glow red, and the emergency stop is huge... take a look at the remote panel next time you're there!

Is that control panel right next to the last row entrance?

Nope... that's the enable panel with a Ride Stop, Air Gates switch (never used), and the Advance Enable button.
The remote panel is actually attached to the side of the operator's panel. As you're being dispatched, just look to your left. None of the green buttons are activated, but the red ones work...
