I was down in the Atlanta area with my family for vacation. We decided to make use of our season passes at yet another SF park.
We arrived at the park on a Friday morning, around 10:30. The lines at the front gate of the park were huge, but we lucked out and got into a freshly opened line with no wait. One interesting thing...This park scans your season pass as they do at SFA. They also completely ignore the metal detectors and don't search your bags.
Upon arrival we turned right to walk by the Cyclone. The line for this was already pretty long, so we continued around the circle to the left. I spotted Acrophobia. The line was pretty short. My 8 year old daughter was kind of apprehensive about this drop tower, but she was willing to try it. My wife waited with my son, since she is not a fan of free fall rides. 20 minutes later, my daughter and I were getting on the ride. The seats are pretty comfy. The trip up is neat with the rotation. The tilt forward of the seats is not that noticable, but adds to the fear factor a bit. A nice long free fall on that 200 foot tower.
After that we hit the mine train, something the whole family could ride. 10 minute wait. 3 lift hills. Pretty good drop into a tunnel after the 3rd lift hill. My son and wife liked it. My daughter (a Nitro veteran) thought it was pretty tame. I thought it was interesting that the train never seems to get more than 10 feet off the ground.
After that we hit monster plantation. 1 hour wait. Oof. Pretty funny because my daughter seemed a little freaked out during the dark/evil portion of the ride.
After that we walked over to Ninja. My daughter and I hit that one, since my son was too short. Very similar to GASM at SFGAdv, except completely over the water and no mid-course brake.
Next up was GASM, a nice looking woodie. The whole family could go on this one. I had to convince my son that it was the same height as Rolling Thunder. He loved it. My wife had her arms up on the first drop and got a nasty bruise on the inside of her elbow from a severe jolt at the bottom. Ouch. Good woodie though.
From there we saw the wait for S:UF was all the way out the queue, so we skipped it for then. Deja Vu was also ridiculous in the wait department. We took the cable car back to the center of the park.
On the way we saw Georgia Scorcher (B+M Standup) get evacuated on the lift hill. We skipped that one. We headed for our next ride, the funnest of the day.... Mindbender.... Our son was tall enough for the ride, but he was afraid of loops. We decided to "trick" him a little... we told him the ride did not have any loops. "It couldn't... it only has a lapbar." He went along with it. We waited 45 minutes. We had to distract him a bit when we got right into the station, because the ride performs a loop right in front of it. We were on the ride, my wife and daughter in the front seat, my son and I right behind. After the lift hill, I saw my son peering in between the headrests of the front car at the track in front of us. I could tell he could not figure out what the track was about to do... halfway through the loop he kept looking up at the track in front of us... After we got through the loop he said "Whoa.... That was a loop!". He thought it was awesome. He was ready for the next one... He really loved the ride. After we got off he wanted to do it "8 more times". Too bad the wait was so long.... He is hooked now.
