Me, one of my friends and his brother where there yesterday (Sep 14th '02). Park was more packed then we've seen it all summer (although we normally try to stick to going on less crowded weekdays). We seen how crowded the line for the Safari and parking lot was and almost turned around and left. But since my friends brother has only been to Dorney Park and never to Great Adventure, we really wanted show and have him ride the kickass Nitro, Chiller and Medusa.
We had to park towards the back in row E2 (no preferred parking passes where being sold) then we started to make the hike towards the main gate moanin' and groanin' that we made a mistake going that day (because it was so crowded lookin'). Halfway to the gate some college kid came up to us trying to sell us discounted tickets. One look at the 'printed up looking fakes on a home pc', we where like "nah, but thanks anyway." We get our tickets after finding out that any coke can/bottle would get us a discounted ticket (we always thought the cans had to have the discount printed on them -- we got them out of the soda machine in the locker area oustide the main entrance). Then we seen how long the lines where at the gate and where like "holy ----!" We never seen it that crowded before, even on a weekend!
Right about there we where even more bummed out about the crowd (Hey, when your home town park is Dorney and the rides are almost always near walk right on status for weeknights/starlight special, you get severly spoiled!! So after finally getting in we knew one of our all time favorite rides line would tell the story. So we headed right over to the Chiller first and the whole line stall was packed all they way outside the first entry!! Now normally when the line starts right at the building entry (where you walk indoors from outside) for the Batman side, waiting for front seats is around 2 hours between getting in line and walking out the exit.
As many times as we've been to Great Adventure this summer (around 16 times) we've never gotten the Q-Bot thingy. So we agreed that if any day would be a good day to try it out and see how good it works, today was definetly IT!! So we found out where to get it from a ride attendant closing down the entrance of Stuntmans Freefall and made our way over and got it. We paid I think around $28 for 3 people. Not bad, not bad we where thinking. So after getting it we decided since the Chillers line was the longest wait and in our top 2 favorite rides in the park, we decided we would queue it first. After it gave us the time to come back in about 1hr 10mins (Alot and I do mean ALOT faster then waiting in line since we timed Batmans side from where the line was starting to near 3hrs for front seats!!)
So we queued up the Chiller, Batman the Ride and Nitro in that order and then jumped in the normall line for the Nitro since the Nitro's line is so fast moving and we had an hour until our first Q-Bot ride anyway. So now we're waiting in two lines for two different rides at the same time!! SWEET!! Now we're not so bummed out about the heavy crowd! We waited the extra time for front seats in the normall line even though we had a Q-Bot since #1 we had the time to spare until our first Q-Bot ride and #2 we initially thought you couldn't pick seats on any of the rides with the Q-Bot and because of that, I wanted my friends brother to go on the very front of the Nitro first anyway since it was his first time to the park. Needless to say, he loved every second of it!! His exact words where "this is tha' sh1t man!!" going down the second hill of Nitro.
