After visiting Virginia Tech and Univ. Maryland, my dad and I went to Six Flags America. I had my season pass, and I just used my 1/2 price at other parks coupon for my dad. We got thru the gates at about 11:15. From the looks of the entrance to the park, we thought lines would be really long, but we were definitely wrong. It was a beautiful day, and despite the crowds, our longest wait for a ride was their congo rapids, 1/2 hr. Here's how the day went.
First, we headed to Batwing, all the way in the back of the park, behind S:ROS. We figured that would have the longest line, but it didn't. Only 15 minute wait. They had 2 trains running, so the line moved smoothly. They only let 24 people into the station at a time due to the loading process, so we were cut off, but we were the first ones to go in the station for the next train, and therefore, we got to ride the FRONT ROW!! ;D It is sooo great in the front row. Batwing its an excellent ride. I loved it! Being able to 'fly' in the front row with your arms straight out in front is so great.
After Batwing, we went to Superman: Ride of Steel. Again, with the great luck we had that day, I got to ride front row. They had both trains running, and lines moved fast. 10 minute wait. Excellent airtime on this ride, but Nitro is longer and has more elements to it, but S:ROS is still a great ride.
Then we headed to Joker's JInx. 15 minute wait. BOth trains running. They had the new lap bars, like Chiller. so it wasnt as rouigh as it was when i went in 2000. This ride is only good in the very beginning and very end. Otherwise, it's too slow and not much excitement. Not worth waiting over 1/2 for. After this we rode the Pengin Ride (sorta like himalaya) and got right on.
When we arrived at the park, Two Face was closed, but we noticed it opened after JJ, so we went over to that end of the park. Two Face was only a 10 minute wait. SHort lines, but it still moves slow. Anyway, we sat on the very front of the car, facing the cobra roll, and not facing ne1. It's one intense ride if u sit on either end. I balcked out for a few seconds on the loop. But it's a fun ride.
After that, went on Wild One. They musta retracked it this yr or last yr cuz it was much smoother and faster than in 2000. 10 minute wait. It's a nice old woodie with some nice drops and a view of the park.
Then we went on Tower of Doom, 15 minute wait cuz they only had 2 sides open (8 peeps at a time). Nice drop. After that, we went on an excellent ride called the Iron Eagle. Wow, what a great, thrilling, intense, long ride. It's like our gravitron where the car spins forward, but on this, it spins you horizontally instead of forward and backward. Its hard to explain, but what a ride. If you ever go there, don't miss this one.
Next we headed to Roar and Mind Eraser. Roar had NO line at all. I was suprised cuz its such a great woodie. So many sudden twists and turns and that unexpected feeling. 2nd row, 5 minute wait. What a great woodie. Mind Eraser was about 5-10 minutes, but it's a rough ride. You get banged around a lot, probly cuz its aging. It's an ok ride, but not worth waiting in long lines for.
Between rides we hit some flats, most of which were open. We got to go on every single coaster, which was great ;D except the Typhoon Sea Coaster which had massive long lines (it was hot outside). It was about 3pm when we were done with main rides, so we decided to get changed and go to Paradise Island. It was crowded, but wasnt too bad. It was ok. Of the 4-slide tower that u go to right when u enter the waterpark, (red, blue, yellow, tan ones) only the red slide was open, so it was about 10-15 minute wait. These slides arent aging well. The other slides were all open. The two white twisting tube slides were 10 minute waits. They moved fast. But the black slide and the blue/white one (they go straight down) had long lines. It was 1/2 hour wait for those, so i only went on the black one once. These all slides were good, but HH's are much better at home. It was nice to just cool offf a bit tho after doin the rides.
At about 6 we went back to do a few re-rides on Batwing, S:ROS, and Roar. All of the lines were the same as they were in the morning, which was great. Again, we got on front row of Batwing. Back row on S:ROS, which is the best place to be on that ride. Roar we did near the back too, and boy is it fast back there. The last ride we hit was Renegade Rapids, a 1/2 hour wait. This rapids is shorter but much faster and wetter than ours.
We were tired at about 7 so we left the park. Overall, a perfect day at Six Flags America. Crowds were not massive but not small, but OK. We got on every coaster and got to cool off at Paradise Island. We had a beautiful, fun day at SFA.
Oh, and I took pictures of the coasters and stuff, so I'll have them up in a few days. I'll post the link here soon.
