Actually i doodled a B&M vertical drop coaster that was themed to NYC.....that could be retrofitted for the area....it droped over the top of a tower/building and went into a fake subway.....then twisted around some buildings..that would go but there wouldn't be enough room in the section for it

well if they wanted to a verticle drop coaster could b used that same way as my drop tower idea, a holding brake at th tod to simulate someone holding you there then a sub terrinina dive under the parkiing lot and aorund tight curves as cars o voerhead, making it like a subway of sorts.

Okay: I know the capacity would be horror on this, and that is why there will be four towers, with four identical mission briefing and base rooms. There would also be four scientists, one for each tower, but just one operator could watch over all of the towers, saving staff. Lastly, I know there are small flaws like what if the riders threw the balls onto the paths and hit people, but this isn't gonna happen, so don't worry about that.
How about having speakers in the headrests, and using the new technology with tilted seats which you can read more about if you go to screamscape.com and click on Features, then the future of S&S Power. You would board underground, and you would not be able to see outside at all, because of a black dome above you. Throughout the line you have witnessed a preshow with a scientist, about halfway mad, as your guide, then a scene of Clark Kent reciving a report that something bad is happening in Metropolis, then something goes wrong when Clark Kent tries to change into Superman, and the person, who is a real actor, falls to the floor. The lights dim, and your group of 12 people moves into the next room: the mission briefing room, where the scientist tells you what you have to do. Your mission is to get the antidote for kryptonite, (called some made up chemicalish name) in the form of little green foam balls that you have to grab from an arm at the top of the tower, kind of like the brass ring on a carousel. You get launched up to the top four times, and if you are able to grab one of the balls during one trip, you toss it into some kind of container when you reach the bottom, then go right up for another one. You understand your mission, then go into an empty, dark, black room, in which it is hard, but possible, to see. There are warning signs painted in glow in the dark paint, and kinda scary music playing. You board the car in front of you, with either three seats to a side, or four on two sides and two on the other two sides. Then the scientist's assistant (who is a ride-op as you have just found out) comes and checks your harnesses (while the scientist goes back and guides the next group of people, which the rider doesn't know). The person in the control booth (who you can not see, like on Houdini) gets the signal and starts the ride. In your headrest you are hearing a voice nearly identical to that of the scientist, and he's telling you that your mission is starting soon. He is counting down from ten, while the black roof to the room you're in slowly retracts a bit, and when he hits 3, you suddenly are launched all the way up to the top of the tower, and you hear total superhero/Superman music. You try to get the balls, and toss them into the containers (with weight sensors to know how many balls are in them) at the bottom, and depending on how hard it is to do so, your team wins if you get, say, 20 balls. You would see how many balls are in your team's container from one of two bright scoreboards with that information during the ride. To about 3/4 of the way up the tower, and from about 1/4 of the way down, your seats are tilted forward, with the only time at which they're right side up being the part where you can grab the balls. If you do win, you hear triumphant music playing as you come to a stop and the roof to a close. You head out the exit, and as you do, you hear the scientists voice again, saying that you won and thanking you for saving Superman. If you do not, you hear the scary music as you stop, and as you exit, the scientist is telling you how you were close, and that maybe the next group wil save him, because there is still time. Both recorded messages will end with, "So come back again and ride Superman: Krypton Comet, here at Six Flags Great Adventure!"

The ball thing sounds like it would be hard to design...maybe more like laser attached to the seat to kill the scientist at the top.....(then it could all be electronic so no messy balls)..GREAT IDEA THO ;D

the whole ball thing is an excellent idea, but i have a one qestion about it. how would they get the balls up there again? would there be na automatic retriel or somehting or else it would be very hard to do.
i agree with twistedrails on his idea to add onto yours, use laser guns lik on the scooby doo rides where you hi the targets, that wuld make it easir to control an much safer than balls being thrown around.
but all in all, an excellent idea.

Well actually I thought that a thin tube could go up through the tower, like the other tubes in S&S towers do, because there is plenty extra room for a small tube that is just 1" in diameter. Also, remember these are little foam balls that are very light, so even if they were dropped from 300+ feet in the air onto somebody, they wouldn't hurt them. I'm talking smaller and lighter than the ones in the Looney Tunes Fun Factory here.
Also, the laser idea is a good one, and that would work well too, if there were targets at the top that somehow moved, because it would be too easy, i think, if they were still.

I like the idea of the balls and how you compared it to the brass rings on the carousel (which I found out recently can be quite fun), but I think that your theme is a little flawed. I'd hate for you to have die-hard DC comic fans beating you and shouting: CLARK KENT DOES NOT CHANGE TO BECOME SUPERMAN! AND KRYPTONITE IS NOT PERMANENT! IT ONLY WEAKENS SUPERMAN WHEN HE IS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY OF IT! Lol ;D. And the name for the ride should be different than that. Otherwise it's a brilliant idea. You should work for the imagineers at Disney.

Oops, sorry lol. I guess just about every idea has its flaws. And thanks for that Imagineer comment! It is greatly appreciated, though I do plan to double major in Business and Engineering at the University of Pensylvania and to be a theme park tycoon and ride designer.

Double majoring at an Ivy League school... Yikes! Good luck! Anyway, what about Dino Island? That show has been running for a fews now... I've ridden it twice, and I can say that the second time was quite boring compared to the first... Maybe a Superman adventure is waiting in the wings? ~Dan

Dan, you're implying that the boardwalk will be rethemed to Superman/Metropolis. What they should do is make an S&S Power Drop Ride or Intamin's Acrophobia to replace the parachute drop. But the go-carts would be quite tricky to retheme. Lex Luthor's Scream Machine, LMAO. ;D

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but Boardwalk is not getting re-themed. Boardwalk is the one section of the park unique to Great Adventure and New Jersey. It is also the key location and theme for the games. Though technically the themeing in that section could use some work, don't expect a Superman theme to take over.
