I heard from an employee(during one of the Coaster Celebration tours) that Great Adventure DID have plans for a major new wood coaster a few years ago,but built Medusa instead. As far as I know, they still have those plans somewhere. Was this last Year's CC?? I wonder if you were in the morning RT/GASM tour with me because, I heard the same. My husband was also told the same beforehand during the construction of Nitro last year. I think it was the foreman who told him that. I also recall the tour guide saying that RT rehab is on their list of needs every year but, of Course SF shoots the idea down

The correct question would be "what do we need at sfgadv." We need two things, and can't go too many more years without them. 1.) Drop Ride, of any kind or manufacturer 2.) Wooden Coaster, of any kind or manufacturer (Preferrably not Bill Cobb) I'll be very happy if, by 2005-2006, GADV has a GCI or TGG woodie, and an Intamin Gyro Drop. A terracoaster would be nice too, but now i'm being greedy, lol.

Guys think about it when was the last time six flags but a wooden coaster into one of its major parks as the main attraction. The people want new innovative steel designs, not old school woodies.

[quote author=NitroMedusaChiller 2.) Wooden Coaster, of any kind or manufacturer (Preferrably not Bill Cobb) [/quote] Nothing wrong with Cobb, it's the parks that don't fork out the money to maintain his Coasters. RT in it's younger days would Rival Nitro in the airtime department, that I promise you. Just ask some of us Older people who rode RT in it's younger days. I want them to fix RT so bad I could scream because, You all will not believe what that coaster once was unless they rehab it. It would be my absolute favorite at Gadv today if it were running like it was 12 yrs ago. I see the smiles after your statement so, I know you are kidding

Don't worry Dan, I'll never dis RT. But anyway, I don't care either really, but I'd really like a nice wood twister and a drop tower (acrophobia) or some other new ride. But I'm not worryin bout a few years from now, cuz we're gettin Superman this year and I'm lookin forward to it! ;D

I can vouch for rickyswmn when it comes to riding rolling thunder of years ago , back in its glory. I rode rolling thunder about 1 month after it opened in 1979. What a ride it was to , smooth and great airtime. It was a beutiful looking coaster with a somewhat patriotic look with those colors. I must say it nearly scared me to death the first couple times I rode it. Then again I was only 6yrs old at the time. Rolling thunder of its new days definitly could have ranked very high among todays top wooden coasters. For 10yrs rolling thunder reigned supreme at gadv for being the tallest coaster until gasm arrived. During the 1980's rolling thunder was it. Hope to see it return to its prime.

What about an Intamin woodie?Supposedly they are as smooth& as air-time filled as thier "Superman" rides. In general it seems people get "spoiled rotten" with these things;why does a new coaster always have to be the tallest/fastest/most loops??Look at "Big Bad Wolf": it wasn't taller or longer than "The Bat",people were freaked out because it was a well-DESIGNED,well-BUILT ride.

Eric, I agree 100%. A ride does not have to be the biggest, tallest, fastest. ect... to be the best. If you look at most of the excellent woodies out there, they do not have high drops, or really high speeds. A perfect example is Boulder Dash. It has good airtime, great laterals, awesome use of terrain, and a constant feeling of speed.
My wish, would be a mid-sized GCI (or GG, if they prove themselves) woodie where viper is, possibly to go back in the trees. And, of course a drop tower. The only reason I wouldn't want an intamin woodie, is since most have said that their plug n' play design is smooth like steel. A woodie needs to have a slightly rough(without being painful), out of control feeling IMO.

A new woody in vipers spot???......thats too close to RT IMO...but if they intertwined...now that would be sweet
